Terms of Service

These terms apply to everyone who uses IsolatedStudy (“the service”, “we”). By creating an account or using the service you accept them. If you use the service for a school, college or company, you accept them for that organisation too.
1. The service
IsolatedStudy compares documents with web pages, research publications and documents stored in its repository and produces similarity reports. Optional checks (references, citations, writing style, code, images, translation, AI writing) give additional indicators.
2. Accounts
- You need an account to check documents and to see reports. Give correct details and keep your password secret.
- You are responsible for everything done with your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- Users under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) may only use the service through their school or with a parent's or guardian's permission.
3. Your documents
- You keep all rights to the documents you upload. You confirm that you are allowed to upload them.
- You allow us to process each document to produce its report and, if you choose “Standard repository” (or your institution does), to keep it so that later documents can be compared with it. Stored papers of other users are never shown in full to anyone but administrators; other users only see a short matching passage and an anonymous label.
- Short sentences from your document are sent to search engines and research databases to find sources (see the Privacy Policy).
4. Reports are indicators
A similarity score, an AI-writing score, a style comparison or a reference check is an indicator for a person to review – never proof of misconduct on its own. Matching text can be properly quoted and cited; some sources may not be found. Decisions about academic integrity must be made by a person who has read the work.
5. Fair use
Follow the Acceptable Use Policy. Free accounts have a daily number of checks. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
6. Paid plans
Plans for students, instructors and institutions are bought on the Pricing page: a number of checks that can be used for a number of days, paid once (no automatic renewal). Checks not used by the end date expire. Custom plans follow your agreement. All payments are final and non-refundable – see the Refund Policy.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available and accurate, but it is provided “as is”. Online sources and third-party services can be unavailable or change. We may change or improve features; for important changes to these terms we will show a notice on the site.
8. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for decisions made on the basis of a report. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
9. Ending
You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may end accounts that misuse the service.
